Japanese style acupuncture is a more minimalistic approach to acupuncture needling. It involves fewer fine needles with a more shallow insertion. Typically Japanese treatments utilize 4-8 needles per side of the body treated. Inserting needles into specific locations on the body promotes the body's natural healing responses. The needles help the body to break up areas of stagnation and pain and also encourage blood flow to areas that may be deficient. Acupuncture allows the body to heal itself.

Chinese style acupuncture involves inserting needles into specific locations on the body to promote the body's natural healing responses. Chinese style acupuncture will use more needles inserted a bit deeper for a stronger stimulation in the body.

Deeper needling techniques to help release trigger points and adhesions in the muscles. This is a more sports therapy type approach to releasing the muscles to free up restrictions in the tissues and fascia.

Cupping treatments apply suction with a silicone cup or fire in a class cup to lift the muscles and fascia to promote blood flow and healing. Improved circulation helps with pain and discomfort. 5 minutes of cupping is equivalent to about 15 minutes of deep tissue massage in an area.

Gua sha is the technique of scraping the tissue with a tool to release tissue and promote blood flow to areas of pain and stagnation. This can be done on tight muscles or the face to promote circulation and healing.

The herb mugwort when processed and burned is called moxa. When applied to the top of a needle or in a cone on the body it brings in heat and promotes blood flow and warming of muscles or joints. It is highly effective in helping increase circulation and promote healing in the body.

Kinesio taping is special tape applied to areas of injury or tension. The tape lifts the tissue and helps improve circulation and support muscles to help them relax and repair. This is very helpful in chronic overuse areas like the neck and shoulders, also great for injured areas like elbows or ankles to help speed the healing process.

You don't always need needles! We have non-insertive techniques for people who aren't interested in needles. There are strong magnets applied to acupuncture points that will stimulate points and allow the energy of the body to balance. Also a mock needle that is pressed to points, but not puncturing the skin. Press balls that are stuck to the skin to stimulate points.

Therapeutic massage techniques are applied to help alleviate stress and tension from muscles and fascia.
